Having served churches in Indiana and Pennsylvania, the Staley family moved to Florida in June of 2013, when Jim began serving as Worship Arts Pastor. He’s a graduate of United Wesleyan College and counts Rev. Ken Masterman and his wife, Betty, among his many mentors in music ministry and worship. At UWC he traveled with various vocal groups, and while working on behalf of the college at Vassar Camp in East Michigan, he met Caroline Gafford, who was traveling with His Instrument from Marion College.  Jim and Caroline were married at Lakeview Church in Marion, Indiana, and worship arts and music ministry has truly been a team effort, eventually involving their children, too. Caroline also has her degree in music and is a skilled vocalist and pianist, who enjoys teaching music and accompanying for choirs and music students.

Jim spent a few years outside of full-time ministry and was part owner and vice president of a print music distribution and marketing company in Anderson, Indiana. Ministry has involved them in various churches over the years. Not only did they both grow up in the Wesleyan Church and attend Wesleyan colleges, for twelve years they were involved in music and ministry in the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, where they were influenced greatly by the musicians and leadership there.  Jim was ordained in the Penn-Jersey District of The Wesleyan Church in 2007 to Dr. Earle Wilson’s charge, “Go and preach, or, in your case, ‘sing’ the Word!”

The Staleys have five children: Lauren Jones (wife of Jeffrey and mother of Kai, currently living in Conway, Arkansas), Landon (a senior music major at Indiana Wesleyan University), Kyle (a high school senior interested in Russian history) and Cherilyn and Benjamin (high schoolers who love music and musical theatre).

Raised in a Wesleyan pastor’s home, Barry became a follower of Jesus at the age of 7 in a winter revival. At the age of 10, he experienced a call to missionary service during a presentation by a missionary from Africa. He began preaching at the age of 19, a “stammering preacher,” as Barry testifies. As he continued preaching, God healed him, sermon by sermon, until at the age of 25 he was preaching without stammering. Barry was ordained to the Christian ministry in 1965.

Barry served as a missionary teacher under The Wesleyan Church for 21 years in Asia. During these years, he preached and taught in Japan and some ten other Asian and Pacific nations. For 10 years, he also served as Asia Director for Global Partners. Barry has taught at United Wesleyan College (PA), Azusa Pacific University (CA), and most recently (1999 to 2011), at Anderson University School of Theology (IN). During the summers from 2000 through 2012, he taught Old Testament and Biblical Hebrew in Wesleyan Bible Colleges in India, Mozambique, and Jamaica.

As Teaching Pastor at Brooksville Wesleyan Church, Barry’s love of Jesus and the Bible is apparent in his teaching and preaching.  He holds academic degrees from Houghton College (B.S.), Asbury Theological Seminary (B.D., M.Th.), The University of Michigan (M.A.) and Drew University (Ph.D.). He has published two devotional books which were translated into Japanese, study notes for Genesis in The Wesley Bible: A Personal Study Bible for Holy Living (1990, Thomas Nelson), a commentary on Isaiah 1-39 (2016, NPH), and is currently co-authoring a commentary on the latter portion of the Psalms (NPH).

Barry lives with his wife Dorcas in Wesleyan Village, Brooksville, FL. Together they have two married sons and two married daughters, twelve grandkids and three great-grandkids, living in California, Utah, North Carolina and Ohio.

Steve gave his heart to the Lord at the tender young age of four.  After graduating high school, he met his wife Debbie at church and they married in 1970. Steve was a journeyman machinist for 9 years until God called him to pursue a college education. He graduated from Ball State University, Muncie, IN in 1982 with a BS degree in music education. After graduation, his home church asked him to come on staff as Minister of Music and Youth. During his five years in ministry there, he did post-graduate work from Global University, Springfield, MO, receiving his ministerial credentials.

During the next 15 years, Steve ministered part-time as music minister and/or choral director in four different churches in Ohio and Illinois, while simultaneously working full-time in corporate management. In 1994, Steve and Debbie moved to Bolingbrook, IL, a suburb of Chicago, and he became Vice-President of Human Resources for Eby-Brown Company.

In 2000, God spoke to Steve to give up his corporate position to once again enter into full-time ministry to assist the church they were attending. So he retired from his corporate position and became Executive Pastor at Living Water Community Church, Bolingbrook, IL.  While ministering there, he completed more post-graduate studies at Global University, renewing his ministry credentials. Due to some medical issues, Steve retired in 2010 and he and Debbie, moved back to Muncie, IN. In January 2016 they moved to Brooksville, FL and began attending Brooksville Wesleyan church in October 2016.  He joined our staff as Executive Pastor in January 2018.

Steve and Debbie have two grown, married children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Steve’s life verse is Philippians 3:7-8, “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”
